Why this grade This listing scored 39/100, which is an F. It lost the most ground on pay transparency. See the breakdown
- Description depth 20 / 20 How much the posting actually says about the work, measured in characters of real text.
- Pay transparency 12 / 25 A published salary range, worth more than any other single factor because it is what a candidate cannot find out without applying.
- Remote clarity 8 / 15 Whether "remote" means anywhere, or is quietly restricted to one country.
- Corroboration 5 / 10 Whether more than one source carries this listing.
- Freshness 4 / 15 How recently it was posted. Older postings are likelier to be filled or abandoned.
- Role specificity 0 / 10 Whether the listing is tagged well enough to tell what the role actually is.
-10 Ghost-job penalty — Deducted for signals that this posting may not be a real, currently-open role — staleness, repeated relisting, or talent-pool language.
Every figure above is arithmetic over the posting itself — its salary field, its text, its age, its tags and how many sources carry it. How the grades work →
Job Title: Software Engineer, Internal Platforms
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Remote
The Role
This is a high-ownership fullstack role where you’ll contribute to — and grow into owning — core internal platform systems end-to-end. You’ll primarily work on building and improving the internal tools, services, and workflows that power our operations, products, and AI-driven infrastructure at scale.
What You’ll Own
- Contribute to the design and development of end-to-end fullstack systems powering critical internal workflows and platform capabilities.
- Build clean, scalable backend services and APIs with clear contracts and ownership.
- Develop high-quality, performant frontend interfaces used by internal teams and stakeholders.
- Participate in data modeling and database performance optimization (schema design, query tuning, maintainability).
- Collaborate closely with product, operations, and design teams to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable systems.
- Improve platform reliability, observability, and developer experience across internal tooling.
- Uphold engineering quality through code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement.
- Help debug and resolve production issues while improving operational resilience.
- Make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, scalability, and maintainability in a fast-moving environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Experience building or contributing to production fullstack systems (internships, projects, or professional experience).
- Strong TypeScript fundamentals across frontend and/or backend.
- Familiarity with backend development using Node.js (NestJS is a plus).
- Experience building user interfaces with React or similar frameworks.
- Understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and core data modeling principles.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and distributed system communication patterns.
- Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS (or similar).
- Awareness of modern architectures (microservices, serverless, or event-driven systems).
- Strong problem-solving ability, ownership mindset, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
Preferred
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, or DevOps workflows.
- Experience building internal developer platforms, operational tooling, or workflow automation systems.
- Exposure to AI-adjacent, data-heavy, or ML-powered products.
- Experience working in startup, lab, or high-growth engineering environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and platform reliability best practices.
