Why this grade This listing scored 57/100, which is a C. It lost the most ground on pay transparency. See the breakdown
- Description depth 20 / 20 How much the posting actually says about the work, measured in characters of real text.
- Freshness 12 / 15 How recently it was posted. Older postings are likelier to be filled or abandoned.
- Pay transparency 12 / 25 A published salary range, worth more than any other single factor because it is what a candidate cannot find out without applying.
- Remote clarity 8 / 15 Whether "remote" means anywhere, or is quietly restricted to one country.
- Corroboration 5 / 10 Whether more than one source carries this listing.
- Role specificity 0 / 10 Whether the listing is tagged well enough to tell what the role actually is.
Every figure above is arithmetic over the posting itself — its salary field, its text, its age, its tags and how many sources carry it. How the grades work →

At Oceans, we help the best and brightest of Sri Lanka to take advantage of opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t be available to them, while supporting entrepreneurs around the world. Our community (we call them Divers) don’t do surface work—they go deep to solve complex challenges and make a real impact. As an E-Commerce Manager (Shopify), you will play a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations and optimization of a growing direct-to-consumer e-commerce business operating across multiple international markets. You'll take ownership of the Shopify storefront, ensuring promotions, merchandising, landing pages, apps, and customer journeys are managed effectively and consistently.
This role is ideal for someone with extensive Shopify experience who combines strong operational ownership with a practical understanding of conversion optimization. You'll work across Shopify Markets, third-party apps, storefront merchandising, landing page execution, and post-purchase tools, while coordinating closely with Customer Experience, Operations, Development, and Growth teams.
This is not a pure development role. Instead, you'll be expected to independently manage and optimize a complex Shopify ecosystem, troubleshoot operational issues, identify opportunities to improve the storefront, and coordinate technical escalations when deeper development support is required.
Accountability
Your success as the E-Commerce Manager (Shopify) will be defined by your ability to keep the Shopify ecosystem running smoothly, execute high-quality storefront updates, and continuously improve the customer journey and conversion experience.
Here's how you'll make an impact:
Shopify Storefront Management
- Manage Shopify promotions, pricing updates, merchandising changes, and routine site maintenance.
- Support operational management of the storefront across multiple international markets.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency across Shopify Markets.
- Ensure the storefront is operationally ready for campaigns, promotions, and product launches.
Landing Pages & Conversion Optimization
- Design and build high-converting Shopify landing pages.
- Manage and optimize post-purchase survey tools.
- Support conversion rate optimization through landing page improvements and customer journey optimization.
- Analyze behavioral insights to identify opportunities to improve the storefront experience.
- Identify and address friction points throughout the customer journey.
Shopify Apps & Platform Operations
- Manage third-party Shopify apps and integrations.
- Evaluate the operational impact of new tools and plugins.
- Maintain an effective and well-organized Shopify technology ecosystem.
- Coordinate with development stakeholders on technical escalations and implementation.
Website Operations & Issue Management
- Act as the first point of contact for website issues raised by Customer Experience.
- Troubleshoot operational storefront issues before escalating.
- Identify the root cause of issues and coordinate the appropriate stakeholders to resolve blockers.
- Ensure website issues are resolved efficiently with minimal disruption to customers.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Customer Experience, Operations, Development, and Growth/Marketing teams.
- Coordinate stock-related site adjustments and promotional rollouts.
- Ensure storefront updates are aligned with broader marketing and operational initiatives.
- Support campaign and product launch readiness across relevant markets.
Colleagues
You'll work closely with Customer Experience, Operations, Development, and Growth/Marketing stakeholders, acting as the operational owner of the Shopify storefront and helping ensure that e-commerce initiatives are executed accurately and efficiently.
At Oceans Talent, you'll also receive guidance and support from your Operations Manager, who will help you succeed in the role and ensure that you're continuously growing and developing in your career.
Skills and Qualifications
At Oceans Talent, we believe in T-shaped individuals—those who bring deep expertise in one area paired with broad curiosity across the business. As the E-Commerce Manager (Shopify), your vertical focus will be on Shopify operations, storefront management, and e-commerce optimization, while your horizontal focus will include conversion optimization, customer journey analysis, platform operations, and cross-functional coordination.
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience managing Shopify e-commerce operations, with strong experience across Shopify Markets, storefront merchandising, apps/integrations, and conversion optimization.
- Shopify Markets: Strong experience working with Shopify Markets and managing storefront operations across multiple international markets.
- Apps & Integrations: Strong understanding of third-party Shopify apps, integrations, and the operational considerations involved in managing them.
- Merchandising & Promotions: Experience managing storefront merchandising, promotions, pricing updates, and other e-commerce workflows.
- Landing Pages & CRO: Experience designing or optimizing landing pages and improving storefront conversion through customer journey and UX improvements.
- E-Commerce Operations: Demonstrated ability to independently own operational Shopify workflows rather than focusing solely on development.
- Behavioral Analytics: Familiarity with tools such as post-purchase surveys and screen recording platforms to understand customer behavior and identify optimization opportunities.
- DTC Experience: Experience working within a direct-to-consumer or e-commerce brand environment is strongly preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy and consistency across a complex, multi-market storefront.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to coordinate effectively with CX, Operations, Development, and Marketing/Growth stakeholders.
During the interview process, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your skills in the following areas:
- Shopify Operations: How you manage and optimize a complex Shopify storefront across multiple markets.
- E-Commerce Merchandising: How you manage promotions, pricing, merchandising, and storefront updates.
- Conversion Optimization: How you approach landing pages, customer journeys, and storefront improvements to increase conversion.
- Platform & App Management: How you evaluate, manage, and troubleshoot Shopify apps and integrations.
- Problem Solving & Ownership: How you diagnose operational website issues, resolve problems independently, and determine when technical escalation is required.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: How you work with CX, Operations, Development, and Marketing/Growth teams to execute e-commerce initiatives.
Diversity of experience is core to Oceans. You are expected to work inclusively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ensuring that both personal and collective dignity are supported.
