Why this grade This listing scored 54/100, which is a D. It lost the most ground on pay transparency. See the breakdown
- Description depth 20 / 20 How much the posting actually says about the work, measured in characters of real text.
- Freshness 15 / 15 How recently it was posted. Older postings are likelier to be filled or abandoned.
- Remote clarity 8 / 15 Whether "remote" means anywhere, or is quietly restricted to one country.
- Role specificity 6 / 10 Whether the listing is tagged well enough to tell what the role actually is.
- Corroboration 5 / 10 Whether more than one source carries this listing.
- Pay transparency 0 / 25 A published salary range, worth more than any other single factor because it is what a candidate cannot find out without applying.
Every figure above is arithmetic over the posting itself — its salary field, its text, its age, its tags and how many sources carry it. How the grades work →
Director Full Time
About the Role
We're looking for a senior content leader to own the voice of two brands: Darkroom, our growth marketing agency, and Shadow, our AI commerce platform. Ad Age recently described us as "if Omnicom was rebuilt on AI." Your job is to turn a line like that into an argument the market repeats back to us. The split is roughly 80% Darkroom, 20% Shadow.
We are making a category bet on the forward-deployed marketer, the operator who sits inside a business and builds with AI rather than briefing the work out. We intend to make that a term of art through Darkroom: the article, the LinkedIn engine, the video, the webinars, the press. You own that campaign end to end.
You'll report to our VP of Marketing, who sets direction and makes the calls. You'll help shape the thinking behind it: how content maps to the funnel, which channels carry which offers, and what actually turns attention into pipeline. Then you build the content that proves it.
Our marketing operations manager owns the calendar, the publishing, and the deployment. You make the content that fills all of it, across LinkedIn, video, email, paid, and creator, and you brief our designer, video editor, and SEO specialist so one idea becomes a post, a video, an email, and an ad in the same week. This isn't a writing-only role.
Alongside content, you own the creative half of the creator program: who we work with, what we ask them to make, and the call on whether we go wide with many creators or deep with a few. You source and negotiate the partnerships and write the briefs. Marketing Ops runs the admin behind it. Creator content is one of our two strongest lead sources today and the one with the most room left in it.
This is a New York-based role operating in the EST Time Zone, hybrid out of our new NYC office, and all business is conducted 100% in English.
What you'll do
Brand Narrative: Define and defend what Darkroom and Shadow say. Own the positioning arguments, the category bet, and the point of view that shows up everywhere else.
Funnel & Strategy: Work with the VP of Marketing on how content builds pipeline: which channels, which offers, which lead magnets, and what the content has to do at each stage. You help build the model, then you feed it.
LinkedIn & Video: Build our LinkedIn engine across the company page and our executives' accounts, including video made for the feed it runs in. This is where our buyers spend their day and where we have the most ground to take.
Creator Strategy & Briefs: Decide who we work with and what they make. Source creators, negotiate the partnerships, write the briefs, and set the strategy between a wide roster and a small group of anchor creators. Marketing Ops handles the CRM, deadlines, content collection and reporting.
Email & Newsletter: Own what goes into our newsletter and to our list. Marketing Ops handles deployment. The thinking, the cadence, and the reason anyone opens it are yours.
Shadow Content: Take Shadow's content from scattered to a funnel: posts into webinars and lead magnets into signups. Product marketing for a platform that sells to operators.
Paid Copy: Partner with our designer, video editor and performance team on the words behind our ads, so the organic and creator assets that work become the ads that work.
Editorial Direction: Brief the team, review the work, and hold a consistent standard across every surface both brands touch.
Events & Moments: Turn our NYC office, our activations, and our press into content programs instead of one-off posts.
Measurement: Work with Marketing Ops on the weekly scoreboard: reach, follower growth, earned media value, and how content traffic converts.
You should apply if this sounds like you
5+ years in content, brand, or creator marketing, from an agency or a commerce brand, with B2B or pipeline accountability. SaaS or martech experience is a plus.
You have owned content that was accountable to a business number. You can explain how a post becomes traffic, becomes a conversion, becomes a lead, and you have been graded at the end of that chain. If content has always been someone else's funnel, this role is not for you.
You know this world. DTC, e-commerce, performance marketing, social commerce, AI tooling. You can write about TikTok Shop, retention, or attribution without a briefing and without getting it wrong.
You have sourced, negotiated with, and briefed creators yourself. You know what separates a brief that produces something usable from one that wastes everybody's month.
You have a public track record. A newsletter, bylines, a brand account you grew, a campaign that landed, a term you helped popularize. Send the link.
You get output out of people who don't report to you, and you can give a designer or an editor feedback that makes the next version better.
You arrive with a list. In the first interview, we will ask what you would change about our LinkedIn, our newsletter, and our creator content. We expect specifics.
You already work with Claude, ChatGPT, or similar daily and have shipped real work with them. We are a Claude-first company.
Hard disqualifiers
No published writing or no portfolio link.
Never sourced or briefed a creator yourself.
Content experience with no accountability for pipeline.
