Job Summary
The Chief Data Officer (CDO) is responsible for the organization's enterprise-wide data strategy, governance, quality, analytics, AI, and data-driven transformation.
Within an Insurance & Investments organization, the CDO ensures that data is treated as a strategic asset across underwriting, claims, customer management, investment/asset management, risk, finance, compliance, and regulatory reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the enterprise data strategy and roadmap.
Establish enterprise-wide data governance, ownership, standards, policies, and controls.
Improve data quality, consistency, accuracy, availability, and accessibility.
Lead the organization's data management and data architecture strategy.
Establish data models, data platforms, data warehouses, data lakes, and data integration capabilities.
Lead Business Intelligence (BI), analytics, reporting, and advanced analytics.
Develop and oversee AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics initiatives.
Support data-driven decision-making across insurance, investments, finance, risk, and operations.
Establish data governance frameworks covering data privacy, security, lineage, classification, and access.
Partner with the CIO/CTO and technology teams on data platforms and architecture.
Support regulatory and management reporting through reliable and controlled data.
Develop data capabilities for underwriting, claims, pricing, fraud detection, customer analytics, and risk management.
Support investment teams with portfolio analytics, market data, performance reporting, and investment intelligence.
Establish data KPIs and monitor data quality and governance performance.
Lead data transformation and modernization initiatives.
Manage relationships with data, analytics, AI, and technology vendors.
Build and lead data, analytics, BI, governance, and data-science teams.
Promote an enterprise-wide data-driven culture.
Present data strategy, risks, opportunities, and transformation progress to executive leadership and the Board.
Ideal Candidate Profile
15+ years of progressive experience in data, analytics, technology, information management, or financial-services data.
5+ years in CDO, Chief Data Officer, Head of Data, Director of Data, Head of Analytics, or equivalent senior leadership positions.
Experience in insurance, investment management, asset management, banking, wealth management, or financial services preferred.
Strong expertise in:
Enterprise data strategy

Data architecture
Data quality & master data
Business intelligence
Advanced analytics
AI / machine learning
Data privacy & security
Data management
Data integration
Regulatory data
Cloud data platforms
Strong understanding of financial-services data and regulatory requirements.
Experience managing enterprise data transformation programs and large multidisciplinary teams.
Strong C-suite, Board, and business stakeholder engagement.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Engineering, Business, or related discipline; master's degree/MBA preferred.
