About BlueCargo
BlueCargo is a fast-growing, VC-backed technology company transforming the logistics and supply chain industry. As the leader in container visibility and freight audit automation, our platform integrates fragmented data from terminals, carriers, and ports to deliver a single, intelligent interface that empowers shippers and logistics providers to make better, faster decisions. Our mission is to bring transparency, efficiency, and automation to global trade—one container at a time.
Backed by Y Combinator (W18) and leading investors, we raised our Series A in 2022 and are entering an exciting growth stage. Our platform is already trusted by hundreds of active customers and is helping them eliminate millions in unnecessary freight costs each year. As we scale, we’re investing deeply in engineering leadership to evolve our architecture, expand product capabilities, and lead the industry in data-driven logistics.
Mission/Responsibilities
As an AI Engineer at BlueCargo, you'll own and mature our AI infrastructure and agentic systems — building on existing work in document parsing, rules creation, and evaluation pipelines. Your work will directly automate freight audit decisions, turning AI into a core competitive moat for BlueCargo. Your responsibilities will include:
• Design and improve AI-driven systems that automate freight audit decisions, defending against invalid charges for our users — your work will have a large financial impact on the day-to-day of the industry.
• Extend our document parsing and rules-creation pipelines to handle the intricacies of multiple modes of audit.
• Build and mature our evaluation pipeline to measure, monitor, and improve model and agent performance over time.
• Design and build agentic systems, evolving them from rules-based automation toward more autonomous, reliable workflows.
• Work within our Python/AWS ecosystem (e.g., pydantic) to ship AI systems that integrate cleanly with the broader platform.
• Become a near-expert in the freight industry over time.
Qualifications
In addition to the following technical skills, we are looking for PROBLEM SOLVERS with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Experience: Experience building and shipping production AI/ML systems. Open to both earlier-career and senior engineers — this is not a staff/principal-level role.
• Technical Skills: Strong Python experience, ideally with tools like pydantic. Experience with LLMs, agentic systems, and evaluation pipelines for AI/ML systems.
• Cloud: Experience with a popular cloud provider (AWS preferred).
• Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, able to execute at a high level with minimal supervision.
• Curiosity: A relentless desire to grow technically and learn about the freight industry.
