The listing, marked up
Nothing in the wording of this listing tripped a check. The scores above still judge how complete and coherent it is.
Tandem helps companies browse, tour and lease office space faster than ever. Backed by YC and live in San Francisco, New York and Boston, we've helped hundreds of teams move into their new HQs, including Cursor, Blacksmith and Ambience Healthcare.
We're sitting on a dataset no one else has: 240+ companies actively looking for office space right now, many of them fast-growing AI startups. What they ask for, what they tour, and what they actually sign. What do companies say they want vs. what they end up choosing? What do AI startups look for that older companies don't? How is the office changing as a new wave of companies gets built?
We're looking for someone to dig in, find the surprising stories, and turn them into a chart and a post people actually want to read.
What you'll do
•
Explore the data. Use SQL, Python or AI tools like Claude to find interesting, surprising facts about how companies use office space.
•
Find the story. Turn each finding into one clear chart and a short post for LinkedIn and our blog.
•
Get it out there. Work with our founders to pitch the best findings to journalists.
•
Add the color. Talk to our team and customers to find the anecdote behind the number.
You might be a fit if
• You study data science, economics, statistics or a related field at a Bay Area college
• You're comfortable with data and basic stats (spreadsheets, Python, SQL or AI tools all count)
• You're curious and love finding the story in a number
• You read the news and have a sense for what people find interesting
• Bonus: interest in startups, AI, real estate or cities
The details
• 10-15 hours a week, flexible around your classes
• $40/hr
• 1 day a week in our SF office (you pick the day), the rest remote
• Our office is a shared workspace with 100+ other YC companies
How to apply
No resume needed. Just two short questions when you apply.
