Who is Rainforest?

Rainforest is an early stage payments-as-a-service startup that has developed a solution that makes monetizing payments for vertically focused software platforms fair and simple.

We focus on small-to-mid sized platforms that want to add value to their small business customers through embedded payments — and want to do so without adding operational or regulatory burdens or costs.

Led by a successful repeat fintech founder with deep knowledge of the industry, and with venture backing from a Top 10 VC firm, Rainforest is well positioned to make an impact in the payments-as-a-service space, and we're looking for new team members who want to be a part of this journey!

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for a hands-on Software Engineer to help build agentic products for our customers. You've spent the last couple of years building agent harnesses on top of commercial LLMs, and you've seen what happens once those systems run in production for months. You’ve worked end-to-end, from scoping the work to shipping it and keeping it reliable as usage grows. If you're excited about bringing that experience to payments and helping shape a new product and team from day one, you'll feel right at home at Rainforest.

We seek innovators, hackers, and pioneers who can both get-stuff-done and collaborate effectively with development peers. Your first focus will be customer-facing agentic products that vertical SaaS companies can embed in their business, the same way they embed our payments components in their software.

What are some of the high-impact opportunities you’ll tackle?

• Building and evolving the agent harness behind our customer-facing and internal agentic products, taking them from a working prototype to a production product used by many customers

• Turning Rainforest's payments expertise into the skills, knowledge base, and runbooks agents can use to handle specific situations

• Building agentic connectors with MCP

• Managing data retention and security with AWS Bedrock AgentCore products

• Enforcing policy at the harness level so every action Rainforest’s agent attempts is checked against clear rules before it runs

• Anticipating the problems that show up at scale

• Building internal agents for teams across Rainforest, starting with our Risk team

• Scoping and leading projects within the squad and partnering closely with an incoming product manager

This opportunity is for you if you have / are:

• Hands-on experience building agentic products that run in production

• Experience building agent harnesses on commercial LLMs, ideally Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI models

• Strong working knowledge of persistent memory, tool and skill design, and multi-step task execution

• Experience building MCP servers or similar tool integrations, including authentication and permissioning for agents acting on a user's behalf

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with the last 2 years focused on agentic or LLM-based systems

• Comfort working as an individual contributor who scopes and leads projects without direct reports

• Ability to work from our Atlanta HQ on Tuesdays and Wednesdays

• Experience with AWS, Bedrock AgentCore, or open-weight models (a plus)

• Payments or fintech experience (a plus, and our team can teach you the domain)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience

We offer a comprehensive health benefits package, unlimited paid time off, paid parental leave, a fun and flexible working environment, and continuously invest in our people and our culture.
