About CircuitHub
CircuitHub is reshaping electronics manufacturing with The Grid, a factory-scale robotics platform that makes small-batch, high-mix electronics assembly radically more efficient. Think semiconductor-fab precision applied to the chaotic world of prototyping and low-volume production: a 10x throughput improvement in one of the world's most foundational industries.
We've raised $45M from top-tier investors including Plural, Y Combinator and Google Ventures, and we're already profitable. Our customers include a major EV maker, a top AI lab and many of the worlds largest companies.
The Grid isn't a prototype. It's live, scaling fast and delivering real revenue, and we're building the team that will scale it further.
Remote within the UK, or from our offices in London or Cambridge if you prefer.
The opportunity
CircuitHub is trying to solve a difficult problem: why can software engineers iterate almost instantly while hardware engineers can still wait weeks or months to manufacture a new design?
The company was founded by engineers who had experienced that frustration first-hand. What began as software to make ordering electronics easier has evolved into a much more ambitious manufacturing platform, combining software, robotics and automation to redesign the production process itself.
Today CircuitHub operates an automated electronics manufacturing platform serving hardware businesses across areas including robotics, autonomous systems and other advanced technology applications. Its proprietary Grid system is a factory-scale robotic assembly platform designed for rapid, high-mix electronics production.
The business is now scaling quickly. CircuitHub has raised $45 million to expand manufacturing capacity in both the US and Europe, building on operations in Massachusetts and its growing UK presence. Cambridge is becoming an increasingly important hub alongside London and the company's distributed team.
That growth creates a corresponding need to strengthen the operating infrastructure behind the company. Finance is one of the areas where CircuitHub has deliberately remained lean for longer than it probably should have.
Context: where finance is today
The finance team is led by a Finance Director and Management Accountant, both experienced, qualified accountants. This role brings dedicated financial accounting and technical reporting capability into the team, taking ownership of the books, the audit and the technical questions that come with a growing international group.
CircuitHub uses NetSuite to operate its inter-company financial model across the UK and US. A significant amount of day-to-day UK finance activity is outsourced, while the internal team takes greater ownership of the larger US operation, group reporting and consolidation. This role will be the main point of contact for the outsourced firm, reviewing their work and making sure it meets the standard the group needs, while also working across the US side and the wider mechanics of an international business.
Just as importantly, CircuitHub is thinking carefully about what the next generation of finance roles should look like. AI and automation are already being deployed across the company, including in areas where repetitive finance work can be made considerably more efficient.
That makes strong technical accountants even more important. CircuitHub needs people who understand the numbers well enough to judge whether automated output is right, and who can use technology to improve how finance works without weakening control.
That combination of technical accounting, real ownership and a technology-enabled way of working is a central part of the opportunity.
The mandate
The Group Financial Accountant will take ownership of CircuitHub’s financial accounting across the UK and US. That means understanding how the books are put together, running a reliable close and being the person the Finance Director, the auditors and the outsourced accounting firm rely on for accurate, well-supported numbers.
Alongside the core accounts, the role will lead on technical accounting as the business scales. CircuitHub is investing heavily in manufacturing capacity and moving towards more flexible commercial models, which raises questions around revenue recognition, capitalisation and intercompany that need a clear owner.
The candidate must be willing to get their hands dirty to get a full appreciation of the sales cycle & work with the Finance Director to improve our systems and controls to improve our collection cycle, reducing DSO & further automation for our credit offering.
The candidate should have a good technical understanding in accounting that can lead to developing financial operations without complicating or delaying the reporting process. Developing our systems to improve the speed and efficiency of areas such as revenue recognition, R&D capitalisation & the consolidation process.
What you will work on
The precise balance will evolve with the candidate, but the remit is expected to include:
Financial accounting and close. Own month-end, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations, with a clear understanding of how the accounts fit together.
Audit and statutory reporting. Act as the first point of contact for the auditors, manage their requests and prepare supporting schedules under UK GAAP and IFRS.
Technical accounting. Lead projects such as IFRS 15 revenue recognition, the capitalisation policy and the treatment of intercompany transactions as the business and its commercial models develop.
Group reporting. Support reporting across the UK and US entities, including intercompany reconciliations, and contribute to group consolidation in NetSuite where experience allows.
Outsourced provider management. Manage the relationship with the UK outsourced accounting firm, reviewing their output and holding it to the standard the group needs.
NetSuite and finance systems. Work directly in NetSuite and across the different systems and platforms that feed into it. Understand how data moves through the business rather than treating the accounting system in isolation.
AI and automation. Review and take ownership of automated and AI-generated finance output, making sure it is accurate and properly controlled, and help identify where further automation makes sense.
What success looks like
The first objective is to be a safe pair of hands. That means solving outstanding technical issues, taking ownership of monthly & quarterly close, a well-run audit and numbers the Finance Director and the team can trust without needing to revisit them.
From there, success means taking ownership of the technical agenda: a clear approach to revenue recognition as commercial models change, a robust capitalisation policy as CircuitHub invests in capacity, and clean intercompany accounting across the UK and US.
Over time, the finance team should have the capacity to report more frequently, stronger oversight of outsourced work and less technical accounting sitting with the Finance Director simply because nobody else can own it.
Processes should improve as well as move faster. Automation should remove low-value work without weakening financial control.
This is a role to build into over time. The scope will grow with the finance function and with the contribution the individual makes to it. As the business scales, the role is expected to grow into Group Financial Controller.
The person we are looking for
CircuitHub is looking for a qualified or near-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong technical foundations. The specific qualification matters less than acumen, drive and personal qualities.
You are likely to have trained in practice, whether at a Big 4 or a top 20 firm, and be looking for your first move into an operating business. Alternatively, you may already be working in industry, in which case you will be qualified or close to qualifying.
The strongest signals are:
Relevant exposure. Experience getting the most out of NetSuite, working in a finance team to produce accounting information & ability to work autonomously and conscientiously to meet deadlines.
Technical grounding. Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS and a clear understanding of how a set of accounts is put together.
Technology fluency. You are comfortable working across systems and genuinely interested in how AI is changing finance. You see automation as a tool, not a substitute for judgement.
Practical curiosity. When something does not reconcile or a process feels unnecessarily difficult, your instinct is to understand why.
Commitment to building. You are motivated by breadth and ownership, and you want to build something over time in a growing business.
Interest in the business. CircuitHub sits at the intersection of software, robotics and physical manufacturing. You do not need an electronics background, but an interest in technology and how real products are built will make the environment much more compelling.
Why CircuitHub
This is a chance to join a profitable, fast-growing robotics and manufacturing business at a pivotal stage of scale, in a role with genuine technical ownership.
You will work closely with experienced qualified accountants and gain a breadth of exposure that is rare this early in an industry career: revenue recognition, capitalisation, intercompany, audit and reporting across a UK and US group.
You will also build for where finance is going next. CircuitHub is already using AI, automation and connected systems across the business, creating the opportunity to combine strong technical accounting with skills in systems, data and automation.
For someone with the capability and drive, there is real scope to grow as CircuitHub scales and the finance function builds out around it.
