Why this grade This listing scored 53/100, which is a D. It lost the most ground on pay transparency. See the breakdown
- Description depth 20 / 20 How much the posting actually says about the work, measured in characters of real text.
- Freshness 12 / 15 How recently it was posted. Older postings are likelier to be filled or abandoned.
- Pay transparency 12 / 25 A published salary range, worth more than any other single factor because it is what a candidate cannot find out without applying.
- Remote clarity 8 / 15 Whether "remote" means anywhere, or is quietly restricted to one country.
- Role specificity 6 / 10 Whether the listing is tagged well enough to tell what the role actually is.
- Corroboration 5 / 10 Whether more than one source carries this listing.
-10 Ghost-job penalty — Deducted for signals that this posting may not be a real, currently-open role — staleness, repeated relisting, or talent-pool language.
Every figure above is arithmetic over the posting itself — its salary field, its text, its age, its tags and how many sources carry it. How the grades work →

$127k – $168k
That is the middle half of what comparable roles paid on this board over the last 90 days — 27 listings that did publish a figure, median $145k. It is not this employer's offer, and we have no idea what they pay. It is only what the rest of the market advertised.
Full-Time Senior Software Engineering
Who are we?
At UpGuard, we are replacing manual security bottlenecks with AI-driven precision. Fresh off a US$75M Series C, we are scaling our infrastructure to process 100 billion risk signals daily. This isn’t just growth; it’s a total reimagining of how the world manages cyber risk.
We build the Cyber Risk Posture Management (CRPM) platform that security teams actually love. By integrating security ratings, threat intel, and agentic AI, we empower organisations to stay ahead of an ever evolving attack surface.
We aren’t just building another tool; we’re defining a category. We provide the autonomy to ship world-class technology and the resources to do it at a global scale.
About the role
We're hiring a Software Engineer to join our Product Engineering team. You'll work across the whole stack: customer-facing features in React and TypeScript, Go services that process security data at internet scale, and the plumbing that keeps it all secure and reliable. You'll ship real work in your first weeks with a senior engineer as your buddy, and your scope will grow as you're ready for it. You don't need to know cybersecurity yet, but you do need to be curious about it.
You'll join one of our 11 (and growing) Product Engineering squads, most of which have a product manager, designer and technical lead alongside the engineers.
Our stack is React and TypeScript on the front end, Go services with Postgres as our primary database, running on Kubernetes via Google Cloud Platform.
Our engineers work with agentic coding tools, mostly Claude Code and Cursor, and a growing part of the product is LLM-backed. You'll work this way from day one, and we'll want your ideas on what to automate next, from how we write code to how we test, review, ship and run it.
What you'll do
-
Build and ship customer-facing features across our React front end and Go services
-
Own well-scoped work end to end, with senior engineers to pair with and review your designs
-
Help keep the platform fast and reliable as we scale
-
Give and receive thoughtful code review and join the technical discussions that shape how we build
-
Go deep on the cybersecurity domain; it's one of the best parts of the job
-
Grow toward senior, with increasing scope as you're ready and a manager focused on getting you there
What we're looking for
-
Typically 2+ years of relevant engineering experience
-
Strong TypeScript and React
-
A backend language you're productive in (we use Go)
-
Solid relational database skills (we use Postgres)
-
AI coding tools as your default workflow, and the judgment to review and own what they produce
-
Pragmatic trade-offs: you weigh technical quality against what the business needs now
-
Low ego, high care: you're in it for the product and the customer, not just the code
What will give you an edge?
-
Cybersecurity experience
-
Running services on Kubernetes, ideally on GCP
What's in it for you?
We're fully remote, and we'd rather spend on things people actually use than on perks that look good in a job ad.
-
Fully remote and flexible: work from anywhere in Australia. We have offices in Sydney and Hobart, a co-working allowance everywhere else, and no attendance mandate.
-
Real face time: two off-sites a year, one with your squad and one with the wider Product team or the whole company, plus city-based socials in between, with colleagues who like spending time together.
-
Stock options: every engineer gets equity, so you share in UpGuard's growth.
-
Annual leave: PTO plus two additional UpGuardian leave days to give you time to recharge your batteries.
-
18 weeks paid Parental Leave: irrespective of parenting role (all regions)
-
Personal Leave allowance: this includes sick and carer’s leave.
-
$[amount] monthly lifestyle subsidy for your financial, physical and mental wellbeing.
-
US$1,500 annual learning and development allowance, spent on whatever helps your career, not just courses.
-
WFH set-up allowance to get your home office right in your first three months.
